With the aim to establish a much needed coherence between the curriculum of Economics and its practical application in real life, the XI grade students pursuing Economics assiduously engaged in project based learning activities wherein they were supposed to do research on different topics related to Economics.
Students enthusiastically worked on different projects over a period of one month and eagerly engrossed themselves in finding out solutions to real-world problems related to Economics.
Their presentations highlighting the contribution of numerous dignitaries like the philosopher and economist Chanakya, the youngest Nobel Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai, the Chief Economist of International Monetary Fund Geeta Gopinath, etc inspired the audience a lot.The students also presented appreciable details about some of the flagship schemes initiated by the government like National Skill India Mission, Digital India Programme, etc. The most appreciated presentations were on the role played by the Fiscal Policy of the Government and the Monetary Policy of the RBI to contain price fluctuations in the economy.
The research work of the students not only enabled them to comprehend real life complexities of the Indian economy but also facilitated them to find out some remedial measures to solve those complexities thereby honing their problem solving ability. The Project based learning activity undoubtedly helped the students to develop a deep content knowledge along with critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication skills.
