Project based learning is a powerful instructional method for weaving various concepts and skills in the curriculum using real life experiences. It follows the ideology of experiential learning.
Focusing on the same ideology and in sync with the PBL theme - Food preservation, Pickle making activity was organized in the premises of Prudence, Dwarka 22 for the students of Grade-V. Children gained hands on experience of making lemon pickle. They were given insight about preservation to increase the shelf life of different food items. They learnt about the various ingredients used, procedure and relevance of each ingredient used in the making.
Pickling is one of the oldest known methods of preserving. Through this activity, students could categories various other methods used to preserve food like Oiling, Sugaring and Salting.
The students worked enthusiastically and are eager to taste their creation after it is ready.
